Graduate Profile: Kristi Bowling

Kristi Bowling was afraid of going back to school in her 30's, but she now realizes it was one of the best decisions she has ever made. Shortly after graduating from the Institute of Therapeutic Massage, Kristi moved to Escanaba, Michigan. She is now surrounded by Massage Therapists who did not receive the excellent training that she did at IOTM. “It amazes me the difference in schooling from Ohio to Michigan. My schooling and hands-on training has proven to give me a leg up on the other therapists in the area,” she proudly says now.

Kristi works for Atlas Chiropractic, owned by Dr. Hubert, who recently upgraded his office and gave Kristi her own massage room and a raise! She feels Dr. Huburt considers her an equal and asks her to consult with patients who he feels may have muscular issues, including a patient who lost her voice for over six months. Dr. Huburt recognized that she may have an anterior neck issue and Kristi found that her hyoid bone was being pulled out of place by muscle tension and was blocking her voice box. The patient had her voice back in two massages! Kristi also adds, “Needless to say, I love my job and I am grateful for the education I received from IOTM.”

Kristi is just one of our many graduates who has found success in the field of Massage Therapy. The path to your future starts with a great education. Imagine where your degree can take you!

Earn More & Work Less!

Sadie Nardini, a self-acclaimed “Life Stylist” encourages her clients to,”think huge, small and medium have a lot of competition”. Great advise for those of us looking to make a career change. Working long hours and for little pay, Nadine eventually decided to post online videos to You Tube. She currently has 25,000 subscribers and is now a successful wellness counselor. Like Nadine, many of us are searching for a career that sustains us financially and provides us flexibility and fulfillment.
According to the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA), most massage therapists work under 27 hours per week. Massage Therapist Jenny Adams, who has practiced massage for 20 years outlines her career: “I get to wear comfy clothes, set my own hours and work with wonderful people. Most days I see three to four clients, which leaves me plenty of time for other things.” AND the best part is, a typical massage therapist's earning potential is $60 to $100 per hour!

Nadine and Jenny are just a couple of examples of how you can maximize your career financially and increase your job satisfaction. Start your new rewarding career off on the right foot by enrolling at the Institute of Therapeutic Massage today. Call 1.866.897.0949 or visit our website and fill out our online form today!

Massage Therapists: Job Outlook

Let’s face it, times are tough. Currently, the unemployment rate in Ohio is 8.8%. This dismal stat doesn’t apply to Massage Therapists, however. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of Massage Therapists is expected to increase by 19% by the year 2018, which is faster than average, related to other occupations.

The reason for this growth is partially due to the growing demand of massage and also the increased acceptance of massage therapy as beneficial and therapeutic. The number of resorts and spas is rapidly increasing, workplaces are adding massage therapists to distinguish themselves as employee-friendly and older citizens in nursing homes and assisted-living facilities are also now benefiting from massage.

You too can benefit from massage!! Take advantage of this amazing and exciting job opportunity and enroll at a massage school with a proven track record of preparing students for their future career. At IOTM you can truly receive a professional education for a professional CAREER!!

Ask Before you Decide- What is accreditation & why is it important?

Accreditation is  like a difficult test that requires every part of a school and the school’s program to be examined by experts. If the school and program passes this test, it means you can trust that the school provides an excellent curriculum and instructors.

Be sure to be informed- not all accreditation is created equal! Prospective students need to be aware of their school’s accreditation standards! Make sure the massage school you choose is accredited by a reputable accreditor. Remember, even if the INSTITUTION is accredited, that does not necessarily mean the school’s PROGRAM is accredited!

IOTM is accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools. ABHES is the ONLY accrediting agency that examines both the Institutional and Programmatic capacities of massage schools.

As a result of these stringent accreditation practices, IOTM meets and exceeds all the state requirements on graduation rates, state board passage rates and the percentage of graduates employed in a massage-related field
